Privacy policy

Draft. This text has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and will be replaced after that review.

1. Controller

David Jiménez Pérez, Lehnhäuserweg 6, 45276 Essen, Germany. Email: casamarcoaurelio.kanal@gmail.com · Phone: +49 1512 9687479

No data protection officer has been appointed; the legal conditions requiring one are not met.

2. What this site is, and what it does not do

Casa Marco Aurelio is a library to read in. You leaf through quotations, and that is the whole of it. There are no user accounts, no contact or order forms, no newsletter, no comments and no shop. In other words, we ask nothing of you.

We use no analytics, audience measurement or advertising services, neither our own nor anyone else's. Fonts, images and videos are stored on our own server. Opening a page establishes no connection to any third party server, Google Fonts included.

3. Visiting the site (server log files)

When you open a page, our server processes the data your browser transmits to do so: IP address, date and time of access, the address requested, the status code, the amount of data transferred, the referring page and details about your browser and operating system.

Without that data no page can be delivered at all. We use it solely for the operation, stability and security of the server, and we do not combine it with other data. It is never analysed for advertising purposes, and no profile is created.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure and functioning operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Logs are deleted as soon as they are no longer needed for those purposes.

4. Hosting

The site runs on a server rented from Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The server is located in Germany.

Hetzner provides computing power and storage and processes the log data described in section 3 on our behalf, as a processor within the meaning of Art. 28 GDPR.

5. Cookies and local storage

This site sets exactly one cookie, and only if you trigger it yourself. When you click one of the language codes at the top right (de, es, en), your browser remembers that choice under the name casa_lang. It contains nothing but the code you picked. Simply visiting a page sets no cookie at all.

Name
casa_lang
Purpose
remembers the language you chose
Content
“de”, “es” or “en”
Lifetime
12 months (365 days)
Classification
strictly necessary, no tracking

6. Why you see no cookie banner here

Storing the language cookie on your device falls under § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (formerly TTDSG): you expressly requested the language switch, and without storing it that request could not be honoured. No consent is required, which is why there is no consent window here.

The site uses no further cookies. localStorage and sessionStorage stay empty as well. You can delete the language cookie in your browser at any time; the language then follows your browser settings again.

7. Recipients and third countries

Apart from the hosting provider named in section 4, no one receives data from the operation of this site. There is no transfer to countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing we base on a legitimate interest (Art. 21). An informal message to the address given above is enough.

You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The one responsible for us is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW) in Düsseldorf, ldi.nrw.de. You are equally free to contact the authority where you live.

9. Security

The site is delivered encrypted at all times (TLS, recognisable by the “https” in the address bar).

10. Changes

If something on the site changes, this text changes with it. Were a feature ever added that needs more data, it would appear here before it went live.
